Missing
she was ten
when he went missing
she didn’t know him personally
he grew up
a town over
but his face was one that most wouldn’t forget
he had blonde hair
blue eyes
his picture hung on the wall
at the grocery store
and post office
for years
until the wind eventually blew it away

I really liked that. I always look at the kids posted in the entry to Walmart and wonder where they are.

Chelle....
Very moving piece!!!
I'm sure that there are many sad cases like this where missing children and their memories become nothing more than dust in the wind.
Thank you so much for this excellent 55.
Thanks for remembering...hehehe
Have a Great Week-End!!

hi Michelle. Im new to your space . actually pretty much new to blogspot as well.........thats a really nice poem......i wonder how many of us really register those photographs.....and you look at the photo and think I havent seen that face and thats the end of it for you, but somewhere there is a mother, a father who are desperately looking for the baby..........its really sad........

gosh... it is indeed very sad to see and to feel as a mother.. when a child went missing..
even when my doggie went missing one month ago, i felt the heartache too.. been missing it since..

I relate to this. The way you wrote it so well, caught in my heart. A missing child of your own is a piece of you suspended in limbo, torn from your heartstrings...and for those children not your own, the ache is still palpable.

Those words are so powerful and meaningful that we all should know behind those photos, behind the smile of those photos, and that it is so sad knowing that these people are actually "MISSING"
